About Dr. Freed

Dr. Rachel Freed is a licensed clinical psychologist and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and related disorders, and has almost two decades of experience helping individuals build skills, improve emotional well-being, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Dr. Freed earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University and completed an APA-accredited internship at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her clinical training at nationally recognized academic medical centers—including Massachusetts General Hospital, Judge Baker Children’s Center, and the Alpert Medical School of Brown University—provided extensive experience in diagnostic assessment, case formulation, and the delivery of evidence-based treatment. She later completed research-focused postdoctoral fellowships at Temple University’s Mood and Cognition Laboratory and at Mount Sinai’s Pediatric Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program, deepening her expertise in clinical science.

Dr. Freed has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on the nature and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders and has contributed to multiple federally funded research projects. Dr. Freed currently serves on the board of the NYC Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association (NYC-CBT), supporting high-quality training and dissemination of evidence-based practices. She is also committed to training the next generation of clinicians, providing supervision to psychology and psychiatry trainees.
